The Utility Employees Credit Union (UECU) was founded in 1935 to form a savings and lending cooperative to serve the employees of Illinois Power Company.  Chartered by the State of Illinois, the credit union has served its members for over 70 years.  Throughout these years, the credit union has grown in membership, assets and services.  Today UECU serves employees and retirees of the following list of select employee groups. 4,500 members strong our not for profit financial cooperative continues to support the credit union motto "People Helping People".

Adhering to the full family membership policy, spouses, children, and other family members of a current member in good standing may join the credit union.  Each member must subscribe to at least one full share which is valued at $25.00 to obtain membership.

We also follow the “Once a member, always a member” rule for financial continuity.

Persons wishing to join the credit union may contact either the Decatur or Galesburg office or a Sub Treasurer at Dynegy Midwest Generation, AmerenIP locations or AmerGen (Clinton Power Station).  In all instances, proof of eligibility and a copy of photo ID are required.
